Sustainability Solutions
Based on research carried out over 20 years by German colleagues, and drawing on the experience of Steve Alton, formerly of the Millennium Seed Bank, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, the FlowerScapes series of seed mixes are a simple, cost-effective solution for boosting biodiversity. Cheaper to maintain than amenity grassland, FlowerScapes bring colour, nectar and visual appeal to a site over a long flowering season. They are ideal for:
Schools
Parks
Housing, retail and industrial sites
Road verges and roundabouts
Private gardens
Golf courses
For sites where non-native species are inappropriate, we can offer a range of UK-sourced, native species seed mixes appropriate to your situation and geographical location. Native bulbs, plug-plants, shrubs and trees are also available.
Height 40-60 cm, specially created to help pollinators such as bees, hoverflies and butterflies etc. Flowers early June to first frost
This mixture includes poppies, Dame's Violet, cornflowers, Larkspur and much more. This mix can be sown in August to September, for an early summer display, or February to the end of March, for a later display. The flowers bloom for 3-4 weeks, but the border can be cleared and a second sowing can give an extra display well into late summer. The height of this mix is 60-80 cm.
This is another wonderful mix with a long flowering season, late May to first frosts. Height 30-80 cm. Again lovely to look at and great for the insects too.
This mix is especially good for large areas such as wide planting strips, parks, large gardens, golf courses etc. Not only is this a good mix for pollinators, birds will benefit too. Height of this mix 40cm to 1m. Flowers from early June to first frosts.
