In the last 100 years we have lost around three-quarters of our honey bee colonies. The situation is even worse for many species of bumble bee and butterfly.

One of the key factors in this decline is a lack of forage. Much of our countryside is dominated by wind-pollinated crops or ryegrass, and we have lost 97% of our ancient hay meadows.
